Living Water Scores BIG during East Coast Championships!
Chuck and Ana drove down to the East Coast Championships held in Cape Hatteras, NC while hurricane Igor was swirling 300 miles of the NC coast! The waves were big and the conditions heavy. Their experience from living years on the North Shore of Hawaii paid off and resulted in both making the finals. Chuck got 2nd in Longboard and 3rd in Shortboard while Ana is the East Coast Champion in Ladies Shortboard and Longboard.
The highlight of the weekend, however, was at the announcement of the All Star Team! Ana has served as the girls coach helping head coach Pat Emery for the past year! She was invited to serve in the same capacity once again. But the big surprise came when Chuck’s name was announced in the team as well!! So now the Barends will serve as a family, surfing, coaching and being role models to the next generation of top East Coast surfers. They consider it a great honor !
Also, it is worthy to mention Cob Ingals from Little Compton, was the first Rhode Island boy’s competitor to qualify for the East Coast Championships in over 20 years. Good job Cob! We are very proud of you, you gained invaluable experience surfing against the East Coast top surfers!
THE LC CREW ROCKS !!!
Congradulations, you all do so much for the community….it is good to see it coming full circle. Keep at it Cob, we look forward to surfing with you again soon.
